Overview
The Sonomar Collection: Pianos library series began with a curious question: What new and unconventional sounds can be made with a piano for use in sound design? The result is enigmatic and expressive piano sound effects exploring the resonant sonic properties of various pianos to create suspense and tension in your projects.
Prepared Pianos features 539 textured punches, decays, chords, and notes - ripe with complex harmonics, string rattles, and vibrations from placing objects on the strings of a piano with performance by Mingan Sauriol. Created by sound artist Martin Pinsonnault (CODA, Dallas Buyers Club) and the Sonomar team, this library blurs the line between music and sound design - all captured at 192kHz using contact mics and an MKH-8040 for endless possibilities in pitching and processing.
