Veteran recordist and sound designer Watson Wu (Baby Driver, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed) knows that high-quality recordings of everyday vehicles are just as essential as vintage hotrods and exotic supercars. Wu Collection: Vehicles Vol. 4 focuses on those “daily drivers” that make up the majority of today’s traffic: the mid-size sedan, the family SUV, the blue-collar pickup truck, and the increasingly common hybrids and electrics.

Vol. 4 features full workups of six common, modern vehicles. The 2021 Chevy Malibu represents the average mid-size car, while the 2018 Tesla Model X gives you a common electric option. The 2021 Nissan Rogue is the quintessential family SUV, while the 2018 Infiniti QX30 crossover adds a bit of luxury and the 2024 Mercedes GLA 250 gives you a contemporary hybrid option. Finally, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator easily stands in for a variety of rugged pickups and offroad vehicles.

Each vehicle features exterior and interior recordings of various driving speeds, maneuvers, startups, shutdowns, and idling – with only a handful of stunt takes with skids and squeals, just in case. Wu handled most of the driving himself in order to get the cleanest, most useful takes possible. Also included are mechanical sounds such as doors, windows, parking brakes, and even a few Ambisonic recordings.
